Options for Making a Planned Gift

Naming Catholic Guardian Services in Your Will or Living Trust

Naming Catholic Guardian Services as a beneficiary of your estate plan is simple to implement and easy to change, should you ever need to do so during your lifetime; you can make your gift in as little as one sentence. Your gift can be a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder after all other provisions are specified.

If you have decided to name Catholic Guardian Services in your will or trust, please let us know so we can ensure that your gift is used according to your wishes. Notifying us of your plans will allow us to prepare for the use of your future gift. If you prefer to remain anonymous, we can keep your name and gift in strict confidence as well.

Naming Catholic Guardian Services as a Beneficiary of Your Retirement Assets or Life Insurance Policy

It is very easy to name Catholic Guardian Services as a beneficiary of your retirement assets. All you need to do is complete a new beneficiary designation form from your plan administrator; there is no need to modify your will or living trust. A gift of retirement assets is among the most tax-savvy ways of making a planned gift and doing so can prevent your heirs from having to pay additional income tax.

Life insurance policies can be used to make a gift to Catholic Guardian Services. To do so, you just need to complete an insurance form designating that Catholic Guardian Services receives a portion or all of the death benefits associated with your policy and return said form to your insurance company.

Purchasing a Charitable Gift Annuity

Depending on your financial needs and philanthropic goals, you may wish to purchase an immediate-payment gift annuity or a deferred-payment gift annuity. We can work with you to create a planned gift that includes an income stream, significant tax savings, and the satisfaction of making a charitable donation Catholic Guardian Services.

Creating a Charitable Trust

A charitable remainder unitrust can help you maintain or increase an income for yourself and/or your loved ones, while making a significant gift to Catholic Guardian Services. Each year, your unitrust will distribute a fixed percentage of its current value. If your unitrust’s value goes up from one year to the next, the payments will increase proportionally. When the trust term ends, the remaining assets go to Catholic Guardian Services.

Gifts in Honor or in Memory

Honorary Gifts: Consider making a donation to Catholic Guardian Services in honor of a loved one to acknowledge a special birthday, anniversary, or holiday. You will receive a receipt for your tax-deductible donation and the person being honored will receive a letter about your thoughtful gift. (The amount of your contribution will be kept confidential).

Memorial Gifts: If you would like to remember someone who has passed, you can make a gift in that person’s memory. You will receive a receipt for your tax-deductible donation. We will write to family members or friends, as you request, telling them that you have made a thoughtful gift in memory of their loved one. (The amount of your contribution will be kept confidential).
